This Green Team program allows the community to contribute to a beautiful, healthier, cleaner environment by adopting a mile, spot, or stream.

No one can do this alone! It takes all of us working together. The heart of Green Team is our volunteers, and this is one of several ways you can get involved to pick up litter and enhance our community.

What’s involved – Adopt-A-Mile, Spot or Stream

  • A one-year commitment
  • A minimum of six cleanups per year. Monthly cleanups preferred
  • Safety protocol review
  • Inform Green Team about planned cleanups. Let us know if you need assistance disposing of collected trash
  • Provide adult supervision for volunteers under 15 years of age
  • For student organizations, an administrator or teacher must sign the notarized agreement and provide regular contact information. This helps to ensure the continuity of the program
  • Fill out the post-cleanup report
  • Take pictures! Send “before and after” photos of your cleanup activities to green.team@huntsvilleal.gov.

We’re on your team!

  • Green Team will provide supplies for clean-ups: safety vests, litter sticks and garbage bags
  • Green Team will place an Adopt-A-Spot sign with your name at your designated location
  • Green Team will monitor Adopt-A-Spot sponsor progress
