|Huntsville Awards Local Companies for Environmental Projects
October 22, 2014
(Huntsville, AL) - Mayor Tommy Battle recognized four local companies today for their leadership in caring for Huntsville's environment.
Northrop Grumman Corporation, The Boeing Company, Sanmina Corporation and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama were named the 2014 honorees at the annual Air Pollution Control Achievement Awards. A detailed description of their environmental projects is attached.
"It is wonderful day to have so many environmentally responsible companies in Huntsville making contributions that ensure we are a clean community," said Mayor Battle. "We hope all of the businesses in our City take note of these projects and look for ways they can contribute to a sustainable Huntsville."
Department of Natural Resources Director Danny Shea says the APC Awards program was established in 1997 to recognize voluntary efforts to reduce air pollutant emissions by industrial, institutional and commercial facilities within the City. Only those projects that go beyond regulatory requirements for controlling emissions are eligible for recognition.
