|Mayor Tommy Battle Joins Governor Robert Bentley for Verizon Jobs Announcement
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 6, 2014
(Montgomery, AL) - Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle released the following statement following Governor Robert Bentley's announcement this afternoon that Verizon will add 400 new jobs across Alabama -- the majority, 300, coming to Huntsville.
"We have known for some time that Verizon was considering an expansion, but the Governor's office took the lead in negotiations and sealed the deal," said Mayor Battle. "We are grateful for the outstanding partnership we have with Governor Bentley and his team."
Mayor Battle said Verizon commented on Huntsville's highly educated workforce and said their average employee at the call center here had two years of college - an impressive statistic.
"We agreed to partner with Verizon and to continue to provide a well-educated and progressive workforce," said Battle. "Our high-quality work force is one of Huntsville's strongest selling points to incoming businesses."
