Huntsville Holiday Spirit Launches Downtown Trolley

City of Huntsville December 1, 2011 (Huntsville, AL) - Celebrate the holidays in downtown Huntsville! Locally owned restaurants, nightclubs, and shops are decking out for the season and invite patrons to come and check them out.

Just in time for the revelry, the City of Huntsville's Transportation Department is launching the Downtown Trolley. Rides are free, and the trolley will run each Friday and Saturday night from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Park the car, take the trolley, and enjoy the best that downtown has to offer.

Mayor Tommy Battle will kick-off the Downtown Trolley with a ribbon cutting on Friday, Dec. 2, at 5 p.m., next to the newly decorated Tinsel Trail on Spragins Street. Rumor has it that Santa is looking for a reindeer back-up and will be on board with Mayor Battle to test drive the new trolley.

"Carolers" will be joining Santa and the Mayor throughout the Friday night trolley ride. Fantasy Playhouse Christmas Carolers will perform from 4:45 p.m. to 6 p.m., and the Lee Show Choir will perform on board from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Merchants are joining the Friday night festivities by offering the following specials for the Trolley Launch:

25 certificates for a free Sam & Greg's coffee mug - redeemable in store. Certificates will be handed out to trolley riders Dec. 2. Plus, special gelato flavors including "Trolleywood Mint" on Dec. 2.

Commerce Kitchen, Pane e Vino Pizzeria, Humphrey's Bar & Grill Restaurants
Treats for Two - Dec 2 through December 23: Coupon for two complimentary items at each participating restaurant. Coupons will be handed out to trolley riders Dec. 2.

One-Half off appetizers for trolley riders - Dec. 2

Special Drink Dec. 2- "Jolly Trolley" Cocktail @ $4.50. Steaming Kaffeeklatstch coffee combined with eggnog and spiced rum Topped with hazelnut whipping cream and holiday sparkles.

Amendment XXI
Two $25 gift certificates for Amendment XXI drinks (expire in June 2012) to be awarded to two lucky trolley riders on Friday night, December 2. Plus - Holiday Specialty Drinks including the "Merry Mint Melon," made from Midori, Peppermint Schnapps, Kettle One Vodka, fresh lime juice and topped with lemon-lime soda.

A.M. Booth's Lumberyard
FREE open house event Friday, Dec 2., 6 - 10 p.m., three live bands, free finger-foods and specials at the gift shop and toy shop.

Extended happy hour specials until 8:30 Friday, Dec 2. Includes $1.00 off well drinks, $1.00 off on all draft beers (16 on tap) and select wines $5.00 per glass
