Huntsville/Madison County Leadership Form Committee to Examine UAHuntsville Relationship

November 29, 2011 (Huntsville, AL) - Madison County Commission Chair Mike Gillespie, Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle, and Madison Mayor Paul Finley announced today they have formed a committee to examine alternate ways to improve the relationship between the community and University of Alabama System office.
The leaders are directing committee members to seek new ways for Huntsville to influence the University of Alabama System and the Board of Trustees. The goal is to ensure that the University of Alabama System offices support UAHuntsville in meeting the community's research needs and those of its partners at Redstone Arsenal, NASA, and MSFC.
"We see this as an important issue for the success of Huntsville and Madison County's pivotal role as a global leader in research and development," said Gillespie. "We want to explore all of our options in gaining a voice with the System and the Board of Trustees."
Committee members include Mickey Crutcher, Dave Hargrove, Irma Tudor, Marc Bendickson, Steve Hill, Dave King, Dale Jobes, David Johnston, Ray Jones, Wally Kirkpatrick, Jim Myles, and W.F. Sanders. Members will begin meeting immediately.
