HUNTSVILLE RETAINS AAA CREDIT RATING FROM MOODY'S
|
(Huntsville, AL): Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle says he is extremely pleased that Huntsville has retained its AAA credit rating from Moody's Investor Services. Moody's removed Huntsville from a watch list of 177 U.S. cities in danger of a credit downgrade.
"We have all worked together to keep Huntsville in strong financial shape," said Mayor Battle. "I credit the city council, department heads, and city employees for tightening belts and making tough decisions to keep our city economically viable."
Moody's placed Huntsville on the watch list in July citing concerns over the city's dependence on government spending. Mayor Battle says the city will continue to work toward a diversified economic base.
"I think it is highly commendable that Huntsville has been able to retain its AAA rating through one of the worst economic downturns in this country's history," said Battle.
