Mayor Tommy Battle Announces 3rd Annual Mayor's Bicycle Ride Free event will announce a major recognition in bike safety, raise funds for tornado recovery |
Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle, in a continuing effort to better educate residents about bicycle safety and to raise funds for tornado recover across Madison County, is announcing the 3rd Annual Mayor's Bicycle Ride.
The event was organized and planned by The Bicycle Safety Advisory Committee and the City of Huntsville. The 4 mile ride will be an annual event and the public is welcome to attend. Riders are required to wear a helmet and a participation waiver is required. The event is free of charge but the United Way of Madison County will be on hand taking donations to help with recovery efforts from recent severe weather.
Huntsville and Madison County were hit by multiple tornadoes and other damaging storms last week.
The annual Mayor's Bike Ride will be held in the downtown area on Saturday, May 7, 2011.
The riders will gather on Fountain Circle at 9:00 am and the ride will begin at 10:00 am.
Fountain Circle between Gates Avenue and Williams Avenue will be closed to through traffic starting at 9:00 am until the end of the ride, which is expected to be about 12:00 noon.
