The City of Huntsville and the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) are inviting citizens to learn more about planned roadway improvements to Cecil Ashburn Drive at a Public Involvement Meeting on Tuesday, September 13, at 6 p.m. in the Hampton Cove Elementary School Cafeteria, Old Highway 431 Hampton Cove, AL 35763.

This “Restore Our Roads” project will widen, from two to four lanes, approximately 3.2 miles of Cecil Ashburn Drive from west of Donegal Drive to west of Taylor Road.  Road construction is expected to take about two years, from fall 2017 to fall 2019.

The proposed roadway alignment will generally follow the existing roadway alignment with a majority of the widening on the north side. The proposed typical section will consist of a 4-lane roadway with center concrete raised island and 8-foot paved shoulders on each side.

The purpose of this meeting is to ensure that any interested parties have an opportunity to receive information or provide input regarding this project. The meeting’s format will be an informal session beginning at 6:00 pm. No formal speeches or presentations are planned.

Representatives of the City of Huntsville and its consultants will be available to answer any questions relative to the project. Preliminary maps and additional information will also be available during the meeting.

Comments, which will become part of the official project record, may be made at any time prior to, at, or within ten days following the hearing. A recorder will be available for anyone wishing to leave recorded comments. Written comments may be left at the hearing or mailed after the meeting to:
