The City of Huntsville Youth Services Program works with City agencies and Community organizations to provide programs that prevent negative behavior among youth. The Youth Services Division collaborates with local organizations including Partnership For a Drug-Free America, the Coalition on At-Risk Minority Males, the United Way Community Problem Solving Committee, the Juvenile Court System and several other community groups. Through this collaboration, programs addressing Drug and Substance Abuse Prevention, Gang Intervention, Academic Achievement, Parenting Education and Drop-out Prevention are now implemented. In addition, the Youth Services Division regularly presents educational programs and seminars to schools, churches and business organizations as well as being active on several state-wide Commissions that address the needs of youth.

Parents experiencing problems with their children becoming involved in negative activities may call the Youth Services Department (256)427-5803 to receive help in areas such as drug testing, counseling, tutorial assistance, employment opportunities, etc.

The Neighborhood Youth Services Program, in addition to working with negative aspects of youth problems, supervises programs at two Community Centers - Cavalry Hill Friendship Center and Westside Community Center .
