Councill High Memorial Park Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting

City of Huntsville leadership and representatives from the William Hooper Councill Alumni Association will host a grand opening ceremony and ribbon-cutting on Monday, October 26, at 1 p.m. to open the William Hooper Councill High Memorial Park on St. Clair Avenue. More than 150 years after the school first opened its doors, and more than 50 years since the school closed, the historic site of the Huntsville’s first public school for African-American students has been thoughtfully transformed into a beautiful park.
