U.S. 431- Governors Drive – night repaving to begin June 9

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) advises motorists that Whitaker Contracting will begin nighttime resurfacing on U.S. 431/Governors Drive in Huntsville on the evening of Sunday, June 9, if weather permits.

The nearly $1.8 million project, anticipated to be complete this summer, will resurface about five miles of U.S. 431 from Old Big Cove Road to Bassett Street.

All work will be performed outside peak travel times to reduce impacts on traffic. No northbound (towards the medical district) lane closures will be permitted from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. No southbound (towards Hampton Cove) lane closures will be permitted from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. At least one lane in each direction will remain open during work times. Work days will be Sunday night through Thursday nights /early Monday through Friday mornings.
