Lend a hand for National Public Lands Day! Join the Flint River Cleanup at Hays Nature Preserve on Saturday, September 25 from 8am-Noon. Registration is required to volunteer. Email katheleen.theriault@huntsvilleal.gov to register. Must be over 18 to volunteer. Volunteers will be working on the riverbanks to clear litter and flood debris. Please park at the parking lot by the cul-de-sac near the bridge/Flint River at Hays Nature Preserve.

Flooding issues have closed several areas within the Parks and Recreation Department. Access to a majority of the Hays Nature Preserve has been closed today (Thursday, March 18) due to flooding issues. The only areas accessible at this time are the Main Entrance on U.S. Highway 431 and the Natural Playground and Bar Lake areas.
