Let’s get ready for Spring! Join us at City Hall for the Great American Cleanup Kickoff and Plant Giveaway on Friday, April 19 from 11am-1pm. We will be giving out free Glad trash bags to use for your neighborhood cleanups and free tomato and cucumber plants! Earth Day at Hays Nature Preserve is fun for the whole family and it's all FREE. Come check out more than 80 earth-friendly exhibitors with informative displays & demonstrations on April 20 from 10am-2pm. Butterfly releases will take place at 10am and 1pm. There is face painting, children's activities and SO MUCH MORE throughout the whole day! Enjoy free hot dogs, drinks, and popcorn. Please bring a reusable water bottle to use at our refilling stations.
This month’s speakers will include representatives from Community Development and Community Watch. Please plan to attend and learn how to improve your neighborhood. Invite your neighbors. This is a timely topic as we enter the spring clean up season. Community Development has already been busy identifying potential code violations within the Five Points area.
Applicants aspiring to be police officers can attend, work up a sweat, and learn what exercises they will need to be doing on their own time to get ready for the physical demands of the police academy. The Huntsville Historic Preservation Commission is holding a public meeting on Monday, April 29 at 5:30pm in the 1st floor conference room of 320 Fountain Circle. Presentations will be given on the history, purpose and impact of Huntsville’s locally designated historic districts, ordinance and guidelines. Commission Members and staff will host a public discussion session afterward, to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats around the Districts.
