Mayor Tommy Battle and Parks & Recreation Director Bernita Reese will put a twist on the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m. They will cut through a ceremonial bike chain during the highly anticipated opening of the new mountain bike trail at John Hunt Park.
The mountain bike trail is a single-track course that spans 4.1 miles through the south side of the park. The project is a joint partnership between the City, Barry Smith Trails and Huntsville Area Mountain Bike Riders (HAMR).
