City of Huntsville municipal offices will close Monday, Jan. 16, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This includes Animal Services, Parks & Recreation, Public Transit and Municipal Court. Residential curbside collection will be delayed by one day the week of Jan. 16-20. Residents should leave carts at the curb until they are collected. Essential police and fire personnel will remain on duty throughout the holiday.
NOTE: This event has been canceled due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. District 4 Council Member Bill Kling will hold drop-in public office hours at the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library’s downtown branch from 6-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16. This is your opportunity to ask questions, give an opinion or learn more about a City department or service. No appointment is needed. All are welcome. Make plans to join City Council President and District 5 Representative John Meredith for a community town hall where citizens are invited to express any concerns they may have. The Huntsville Special Events Office invites public event organizers or anyone interested in hosting a special event to attend its monthly meetings, held the third Wednesday of the month at 10 a.m. Meetings are on the 2nd floor of the Huntsville Parks & Recreation building, located at 2411 9th Ave. The purpose of the meeting is to answer questions about the special event permit application process and provide updates about scheduled events to City officials.
The City Council will hold a personnel hearing on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 1 p.m., in the 7th Floor Conference Room of City Hall.
Planning Commission Meetings are held in the City Council Chambers of the Municipal Building on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Agendas are posted on the Planning Commission webpage.
