Huntsville’s Preservation Planner Katie Stamps will lead free guided walking tours of downtown Huntsville at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14. Tours will leave from the historic First National Bank Building on West Side Square. Attendees will experience Huntsville’s downtown evolution from its earliest settlers to the Space Race and beyond. District 4 Council Member Bill Kling will hold drop-in public office hours in meeting room A of the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library’s downtown branch from 6-7 p.m. Monday, May 16. This is your opportunity to ask questions, give an opinion or learn more about a City department or service. No appointment is needed. All are welcome.
The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) and Mayor Tommy Battle will hold its annual Fallen Officer Memorial Service on Tuesday, May 17, at 11 a.m. in front of the Fallen Officers Memorial at 815 Wheeler Ave. The service, held during National Police Week, will honor 12 HPD officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their community. The Memorial Service is open to the public. Attendees should use the parking lots across the street from 815 Wheeler Ave.
