Lodging Tax

NOTICE OF LODGING TAX INCREASE

As authorized by City of Huntsville ordinance 17-456, the City will increase its Lodging Tax rates as shown below, effective October 1, 2017, for tax returns due on or before November 20, 2017.

OLD RATE               NEW RATE

City Lodging Tax……………………………………………        7%                             9%

City Lodging Tax Surcharge Fee………………………       $1 per room/night     $2 per room/night

Lodging Tax is imposed on all persons who operate any hotel, motel, rooming house, lodge or another place where accommodations are made available to travelers, tourists or transients. Charges for rooms, lodgings or accommodations provided for a period of 180 consecutive days or more in the same place are exempt from Huntsville tax.
