Registrations & Licenses

  • If you live within the Huntsville city limits and are a pet owner of a dog or cat, you must register your pet(s) within 30 days of residency.
  • To register a pet, the animal must have proof of a current rabies vaccination from a licensed veterinarian, which is required by state law.
  • The city license is available at Huntsville Animal Services located at 4950 Triana Boulevard 35805, call (256)883-3782 or (256)883-3788 for directions and office hours.

The license is issued by Huntsville Animal Services to show that your pet has been vaccinated against rabies (you can not get a license without proof of current vaccination) and that you have registered your pet with the City of Huntsville. BOTH tags must be on the pet at ALL times.
  • The owner of a spayed or neutered dog or cat may purchase a life time city license, $35, or an annual city license, $10 annually, rabies vaccination required.
  • All animals old enough for a rabies vaccination, three months or older, shall obtain a rabies tag from any licensed veterinary office with the purchase of the rabies vaccination.
