Snake Run & Ride Challenge brings pro skaters, 100-skateboard giveaway and free skate clinic to John Hunt Park

Huntsville Parks & Recreation, in collaboration with The Skatepark Project, invites skateboarders and skate enthusiasts of all levels to showcase their best moves at the 2026 Snake Run & Ride Challenge.
The free event, set for Sunday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Get-A-Way Skatepark in John Hunt Park, promises action-packed skateboarding from amateur to professional participants from around the nation.
“We’re excited to see the annual skateboarding event return to John Hunt Park,” said Parks & Recreation Director James Gossett. “It’s a fun event that brings the skateboarding community together and gives residents and visitors another reason to get out, explore the skate park and enjoy all it has to offer.”
Onsite registration and warmups begin at 10:00 a.m. The 100-skateboard/gear giveaway and free skate instruction starts at 11:00 am, followed by the Pro Snake Run & Ride Challenge at noon. Participants will have chances to win cash prizes and more.
Kids and adults looking to learn how to skate or upgrade their skills are invited to participate in an all-levels skate clinic at 11 a.m. The clinic will be led by Pro Snake Run & Ride participants, X Games legends and Olympic skateboarders such as Bucky Lasek, Lyn-Z Adams-Hawkins Pastrana, Jordyn Barratt, Lady Meek, Reef Orlando and Alec Beck. Skate giveaways will be available while supplies last.
“This will be the third-annual skate event at Huntsville’s Get-A-Way Skatepark,” event organizer Paul Gierow said. “The snake run challenge will showcase top level skaters and professional and Olympic athletes will lead the skate clinic featuring free board, helmet and pad giveaways.”
