Weekend Fires on Cavalry Street

Huntsville Firefighters responded to three fires on Cavalry Street this weekend. The properties involved were 1412 Cavalry Street and 1418 Cavalry Street. All three fires have been ruled incendiary. Cecil Ashburn Drive re-opens ahead of schedule at 10 a.m., Friday, October 18

Two-way traffic on Cecil Ashburn Drive will reopen to the public beginning at 10 a.m. today, October 18, marking the completion of Phase I of the $17.9 million road improvement project. Animal Shelter under construction – free adoptions until hard hats disappear

Huntsville Animal Services will be under construction at the Shelter location for the next four to six months to make kennel improvements. During this time, there will be limited kennels for our homeless dogs. As a result, the Shelter is offering free adoptions for medium and large size dogs. More office construction topped the list of non-residential projects permitted last month. Residential CO’s increased year-over-year. Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits: In September, 105 housing units were permitted, 99 single- and 6 multi-family. The top tract for building permits last month was 109.01 (Hampton Cove), where 20 units were permitted, all single-family.
