Please join Mayor Tommy Battle, Parks & Recreation leadership, and a host of recreation enthusiasts for a News Conference on Monday, June 25, at 2 p.m. in Brahan Spring Park to celebrate and proclaim July as Parks & Recreation Month in Huntsville. This coincides with the national parks month long celebration, established  by Congress in 1985.

At the news conference, Parks & Recreation Director Steve Ivey will introduce citizens that regularly use the department’s services and announce this summer’s #GoPlayHsv campaign and contest. Media will also have an opportunity to speak with different parks & recreation participants to learn more about what they love in playing in our City parks.

“We are very excited about celebrating Parks & Recreation month by partnering with so many local citizens and organizations to highlight our offerings throughout the month of July,” said Ivey.

Parks & Recreation will present a new daily challenge for people to complete by taking a picture of the activity and posting it to social media using #GoPlayHsv. Mountain High Outfitters will have hidden swag bags at certain activities, and local hotels have donated free room stays for their favorite picture each week.

July in Huntsville is going to be a month of sun and fun!
