The Hays Nature Preserve features over 10 miles of trails and greenways that follow the Flint River and its associated oxbow lakes through low riparian habitat, old fields, and a golf course. This natural area is even an important part of the North Alabama Birding Trail. Horses are welcome on specified horse trails and dogs must be kept on a 6’ or shorter leash at all times. Read the full list of rules for City of Huntsville nature preserves.

Donations to further educational and preservation programs at Hays Nature Preserve may be made to Green Team. Please contact our office for more information on ways you can contribute to Hays Nature Preserve programs.
