Water Pollution Control Department

The Water Pollution Control Department has a key role in keeping our community’s waterways clean and safe.  WPC is responsible for removing pollutants from the wastewater (“sewage”) we generate in our daily lives at home, in schools, and in our businesses and industries.

Each year, WPC purifies billions of gallons of wastewater, and returns the clean reclaimed water to our waterways.

In short, WPC recycles water.

Removing pollutants from wastewater is part of the job.  Getting the wastewater to a WPC wastewater facility for treatment is equally important.  WPC is committed to doing both jobs reliably and efficiently.  Working with the Environmental Protection Agency, WPC has implemented CMOM programs which are further improving our system.
