UPCOMING MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS

The run-off for City Council District 2 and Huntsville City Schools Board District 3 will be Tuesday, Sept. 20.

2022 MUNICIPAL ELECTION SCHEDULE

AUGUST

23  City of Huntsville municipal election for City Council and Huntsville City Schools Board Districts 2, 3 and 4.

MAY

25  Last day a person can become a resident of the municipality and district and still be a candidate for election.

JUNE

14  Mayor gives notice of the election on the second Tuesday in June, pursuant to Act 2021-157. Candidates may begin qualifying once the notice is published. Qualifying forms are available from the municipal clerk.

28  Last day to qualify to run for municipal office. The qualifying form must be filed by 5 p.m. CDT with the municipal clerk.

AUGUST

16  Last day for a voter to apply for a regular absentee ballot by mail (Must be received 7 (seven) days prior to the election).

18  Last day for a voter to apply for a regular absentee ballot by hand (Must be received 5 (five) days prior to the election).

23  Election Day. Regular municipal elections are held the fourth Tuesday in August. Click here to find your polling place.

SEPTEMBER

6 Last day to register to vote prior to the Sept. 20 runoff election.

13 Last day for a voter to apply for a regular absentee ballot by mail, must be received 7 (seven) days prior to the election.

15 Last day for a voter to apply for a regular absentee ballot by hand, must be received 5 (five) days prior to the election.

19 The deadline for hand-delivery of absentee ballots by close of business. Absentee ballots returned by mail must be received by noon on election day.

20  Runoff election for District 2 City Council and District 3 Board of Education.

26  Results from Sept. 20, 2022, runoff election canvassed by the City Council at 2:30 p.m.

NOVEMBER

7  The City will swear in elected officials during an oath of office ceremony at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7., in the 1st Floor Chambers of City Hall
