Election Dates To Remember

2024 MUNICIPAL ELECTION SCHEDULE

The City of Huntsville will hold its next Municipal Election on August 27, 2024. The Alabama Secretary of State Office sets guidelines as it relates to qualifying dates and election deadlines. For more information, visit Alabama Votes.

MAY

29  Last day a person can become a resident of the municipality and district and still be a candidate for election.

JUNE

11  Mayor gives notice of the election on the second Tuesday in June, pursuant to Act 2021-157. Candidates may begin qualifying once the notice is published. Qualifying forms are available from the City Clerk’s office in Huntsville City Hall.

25  Last day to qualify to run for municipal office. The qualifying form must be filed by 5 p.m. CT with the City Clerk.

AUGUST

20  Last day for a voter to apply for a regular absentee ballot by mail. The application must be received seven days prior to the election.

22  Last day for a voter to apply for a regular absentee ballot by hand. The application must be received five days prior to the election.

27  Election Day. Regular municipal elections are held on the fourth Tuesday in August. Click here to find your polling place.
