Expect brief traffic stoppages for setting of bridge girders

The Alabama Department of Transportation advises motorists that contractor Miller and Miller will be setting girders on the new Martin Road bridge over South Memorial Parkway (U.S. 231/Alabama 53) each night Tuesday, Dec. 27, through Thursday, Dec. 29.

This work will be conducted between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. so as to not affect daytime traffic. Motorists are advised to expect brief traffic stoppages, up to about 15 minutes, as each girder is moved into place.

State troopers will assist with traffic control.
