HU project to require closures of Old Railroad Bed, Capshaw roads
Published on December 4, 2024
On Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025, contractors working for Huntsville Utilities Electric Operations will close Old Railroad Bed Road between U.S. 72 and Capshaw Road, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.
This closure is the first phase of a two-phase project to add a new tie point and other upgrades to circuits in that area. Once complete, these upgrades will increase stability and allow for faster switching in case of power outages.
Once the first phase of this project is complete, crews will close Capshaw Road between Old Railroad Bed Road and Balch Road, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.
The project is expected to take six months to complete.
Traffic control will be in place, and residents of that area will still be able to pass through, as will first responder traffic.
Other motorists are asked to avoid this area if possible. Motorists traveling through this area are asked to do so with extreme caution as workers will be present.
If possible, travelers are asked to plan alternate routes to minimize any inconvenience. If alternate routes are not available, be prepared for shifting traffic patterns and possible delays.
Huntsville Utilities thanks the community for their patience and cooperation as we continue working to provide the most reliable services possible to our community.
