Portion of Clinton Avenue, one lane of Jefferson Street to close temporarily

Drivers should be aware of planned street closures that will impact traffic in downtown Huntsville.

At 7 a.m. Monday, July 11, a contractor will begin work at the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Jefferson Street. Clinton Avenue, just east of Jefferson Street, will close to through traffic until July 25. One lane on Jefferson Street will remain open during this time.

All access to Clinton Avenue will be from Washington Street. Businesses and the parking garage along Clinton Avenue will be open and accessible from Washington Street during this time.

From July 31 through Aug. 2, the intersection of Jefferson Street and Clinton Avenue will also close for decorative brick installation.

During the closures, traffic control will be in place. Eastbound traffic will detour to Spragins Street and westbound traffic will detour to Holmes Avenue.
