Work to impact intersection of Jefferson Street, Holmes Avenue

Weather permitting, the east side of the intersection of Jefferson Street and Holmes Avenue will close to through traffic beginning at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, for infrastructure improvements.

Immediately following the completion of the east side of the intersection, the west side of the intersection will close to through traffic for approximately four weeks or through Oct. 27. One lane will remain open on Jefferson Street, but Holmes Avenue will be closed to through traffic during this time.

Local traffic will access Holmes Avenue from Washington Street and Spragins Street and a detour route will be in place for through traffic to use Spragins and Washington streets. All local businesses will remain open during this time.

Schedule dependent, the City anticipates closing the intersection of Jefferson Street and Holmes Avenue from 7 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, through 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, to complete decorative brick work. Local businesses and residents will have access to Jefferson Street and Holmes Avenue via side streets during the closure.
