This is a five-phase project to construct a divided four-lane road through the TVA mega site, connecting I-565 at the Greenbrier exit to I-65 at the Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road exit. Phase 1,2,&3 (I-565 to 5000 feet north of Old Highway 20) are complete. Phase 4A is between Old Hwy 20 and Limestone Creek.

Phase 4B is between Limestone Creek to existing Huntsville-Brownsferry Road and Phase 5 will widen Huntsville-Brownsferry Road to connect with I-65. The Greenbrier Parkway project will also include a new overpass south of Old Hwy 20 across the existing Norfolk Southern (NS) railroad crossing.


The road is complete to Mooresville Road. Phase 4 (west of Mooresville Road to Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road) is under construction and approximately 50% complete. The anticipated opening date is late summer to fall 2021. The fifth and final phase (widening Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road) is out for bid and will take approximately a year to complete.

Contractor: Eutaw Construction

The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) awarded $4.1 million grant funds to the city of Huntsville, Alabama, for construction of this overpass along Greenbrier Parkway. The grant will be matched with $4.1 million in local funds, and is expected to help create 320 jobs and generate $128 million in private investment.
