This is an Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT)-led project as part of Restore Our Roads consisting of a new overpass at Mastin Lake Road and approximately 1.73 miles of roadway improvements along North Parkway to Winchester Road. The scope includes a grade separation (where two or more roads meet or cross) and a reduction in congestion between Sparkman Drive and Winchester Road. The project will also have an additional 1.5 miles of access improvements between Stallworth Drive and Winchester Road, an overpass at Mastin Lake Road and sidewalks along each side of the service roads.

ALDOT has completed right-of-way acquisition for the project. Design is 70% complete. There are eleven (11) structures to be demolished and removed prior to beginning utility relocations on site. ALDOT is currently performing removal of all structures in conflict with the roadway project and is 90% complete. Multiple utility conflicts exist on site. Utility relocations are scheduled to begin early 2021 with sanitary sewer being the first to get relocated. Roadway construction is anticipated 2022-2026 or upon completion of utility relocation.
