ROAD CONDITIONS AND ALERTS
Huntsville Police, in conjunction with the Emergency Operations Center, monitors local city roadways. Road conditions and closures will be publicized through the City Alerts system, local media and the City of Huntsville’s social media pages. Follow the Huntsville Police Department (HPD) for the timeliest updates.

The Alabama Department of Transportation monitors state and federal highways, including I-565, Highway 231 (Memorial Parkway), Highway 72 (University Drive), Highway 431 (Governors Drive), and I-565. For real-time road conditions, the Alabama Department of Transportation encourages individuals to visit algotraffic.com.
Motorists are encouraged to stay off the roads in icy conditions.
HUNTSVILLE TRANSIT
Huntsville Transit resumed normal service Mon, Jan. 26 with the following exceptions:
- Route 6: Transit will not service Jones Valley or the Valley Bend Shopping Center. All other stops on Route 6 will operate as usual until 9 p.m.
- Routes 7, 8 and 10: On Jan. 26, the pick-up/drop-off stop at the Dr. Richard Showers, Sr. Recreation Center will move from the parking lot on the north side of the building, to the sidewalk on Blue Spring Road (across from the front of the building). All stops will run as usual until 9 p.m.

MUNICIPAL COURT
Huntsville Municipal Court will delay opening until 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 26. Any hearings prior to 10 a.m. will be rescheduled at a later date.
GARBAGE PICK-UP
If icy road conditions occur, residential service may be delayed one or more days. View the City Garbage Collection page for updates on service collection.

WARMING SHELTERS
The City’s Continuum of Care warming centers remain open through Tuesday, Jan. 27, until temperatures rise above freezing.

If road conditions are safe, Huntsville Transit will provide free transportation to warming centers. If Transit operations are closed, call the Huntsville Police non-emergency number, 256-722-7100.
PET CARE
Huntsville Animal Services will delay opening until 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 26.. Please check our webpage for updates.
Animal Services reminds pet owners to take extra care of their furry friends. Pets should be brought indoors, as temperatures and windchill are expected to drop below zero. If that is not possible, extra warm bedding and a heat lamp should be provided. More information is available on the Animal Services webpage.
