Driving for Access Huntsville
Access is Huntsville’s public paratransit bus service that provides specialized transportation for individuals who, because of a disability, are unable to independently use the city’s regular fixed‑route public transit system. Access service is available to individuals that fit within the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as well as senior citizens over the age of 65 who live within the City of Huntsville paratransit service area.
Access bus operators are vital to our commitment to dignity, professionalism and exceptional service. Our operators value diversity, empathy and patience. We also value diverse backgrounds, education and life experiences.
What it means to be an Access bus operator?
- A general Class D license-which is a a regular drivers license
- It’s easy to apply! We do require all drivers to pass a background check and drug screening, and complete orientation and training.

Driving for Orbit Huntsville
Orbit is Huntsville’s fixed-route bus system, operating along designated routes throughout the city – similar to a typical city bus service. It’s a convenient and affordable option for riders who can access bus stops and travel along established schedules.
What it means to be an Orbit bus operator?
- Fixed Routes: No erratic schedules; know where you are going every day
- Shift Bidding: Seniority-based bidding for routes and times
- Shift Entry: New drivers start mid-day (11:45 AM – 9:20 PM), moving toward day shifts as they promote
