Huntsville Transit offering free Orbit rides for cyclists, May 11–17

To celebrate Bus & Bike Week May 11–17, Huntsville Transit will offer free Orbit fixed‑route rides for passengers traveling with a bicycle. The annual promotion is part of Healthy Huntsville’s Bike Month, which encourages residents to explore eco‑friendly transportation options by pairing the convenience of public transit with the freedom of cycling.

“Bus & Bike Week is our no‑cost invitation to the community to try Orbit and see just how easy it is to pair your bike with public transit,” said Quisha Bryant, Director of Parking & Public Transportation. “Whether you’re commuting, running errands or just wanting to cycle one of our fantastic greenways, we hope the community will take advantage of the week to discover a healthier, more convenient way to move around Huntsville.”

Every Orbit bus has an easy-to-load front‑mounted bike rack so you can pedal when you want and then ride when you need.

Bus and Bike Week aligns with national efforts to promote sustainability, reduce traffic congestion and encourage healthy living. In addition, the City of Huntsville encourages residents to try cycling and consider using public transit as part of their regular routine.

“Combining biking with Orbit transit, we expand access, ease congestion and give neighbors another healthy way to get where they’re going,” said Mayor Tommy Battle. “Bus & Bike Week is a practical step toward a more connected, accessible and livable Huntsville.”
