Celebrate Adopt a Shelter Cat Month in June with Huntsville Animal Services

Published on June 6, 2025

June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month, and Huntsville Animal Services is celebrating in the best way possible—by helping cats and kittens find loving homes.

From March to October, shelters nationwide experience an uptick in kittens and nursing cats. Whether you can adopt, foster or support Animal Services through donations, now is the perfect time to get involved.

In celebration of Adopt a Shelter Cat Month, Animal Services is partnering with Haley’s Flooring & Interiors for the Plush for Paws Adoption Day event on Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Haley’s showroom, 2806 Bob Wallace Ave. SW. Huntsville Animal Services staff will be on-site to guide attendees through the adoption process, answer pet care questions and help with paperwork.

Haley’s will generously cover all adoption fees during the event. Attendees can also enjoy light snacks, refreshments, swag bags and enter a raffle for a beautiful area rug—perfect for a cozy afternoon with your new feline friend.

On Saturday, June 14, Animal Services staff will be at the 2025 Rocket City Kittypalooza hosted by Cattyshack, Inc., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lowe Mill, 2211 Seminole Drive SW. Stop by to receive spay and neuter vouchers and more information on the services provided by Animal Services.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Haley’s Flooring & Interiors and Cattyshack, Inc. for these special events during Adopt a Shelter Cat Month,” said John Fischer, Director of Huntsville Animal Services. “Their support helps us shine a spotlight on the incredible cats and kittens in our care who are waiting for loving homes. It truly takes a community effort to make a difference, and we’re grateful to work alongside organizations that share our passion for helping animals thrive.”

Animal Services is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 256-883-3782, visit HuntsvilleAL.gov/Animal, or visit their Facebook page to learn more.
