The City of Huntsville has approved Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for nine nonprofit organizations to support programs that benefit low- to moderate-income residents across the city.
More than $322,800 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will be distributed to organizations providing critical services.
“CDBG funding allows us to invest directly in the organizations that are making a difference in our community every day,” said Community Development Manager Scott Erwin. “These partners help ensure Huntsville residents have access to safe housing, essential healthcare, job training and supportive services that improve quality of life and strengthen our neighborhoods.”
These services include housing navigation, homelessness outreach, healthcare access, dental services, workforce development, youth programming, disability home repairs and recovery support.
The following agencies will receive CDBG grants from the City:
- HATCH HSV, Inc. – $100,000
- Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama – $50,000
- First Stop, Inc. – $35,000
- Community Free Dental Clinic, Inc. – $35,000
- Downtown Rescue Mission, Inc. – $30,000
- Christmas Charities Year Round, Inc. – $30,000
- New Futures, Inc. – $17,800
- Heritage Home, Inc. (His Way Recovery Center) – $15,000
- ENABLE Madison County, Inc.– $10,000
The CDBG program is a federally funded initiative administered locally by the City’s Community Development department. The program addresses urgent community needs and improves neighborhood conditions.
“These grants represent a meaningful investment in Huntsville’s people,” Erwin said. “By partnering with trusted nonprofits, we’re helping residents overcome barriers, build stability and create stronger futures for themselves and their families.”
