City of Huntsville offices to close for New Year’s Day

City of Huntsville municipal offices will close Wednesday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s Day. This includes Animal Services, Parks & Recreation facilities and Municipal Court.

Public Transit (Orbit and Access) will close at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, and all Parks & Recreation facilities, including Kids Space and Get-A-Way Skate Park, will close at 5 p.m.

City offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2.

  • Garbage Collection: Residential collection will be delayed one day. Residents should leave carts at the curb until they are collected.
  • Public Safety: Essential police and fire personnel will remain on duty throughout the holiday.
