The City of Huntsville cut the ribbon to open The Park at Hays Farm, unveiling a versatile gathering space for both residents and visitors.
Land for the nine-acre park was generously donated by the Hays family.
“The Park at Hays Farm will be an invaluable addition to south Huntsville,” said Mayor Tommy Battle. “As our city continues to grow, added park space is a valued part of our infrastructure.”
Located at 801 Haysland Rd., park amenities include a gazebo, a pavilion and restrooms, a waterwall feature, and a windmill from the Hays family farm. Additionally, the park and its walking paths will connect to the city’s greenway network via Elgie’s Walk Greenway.
“This pivotal project will provide residents with a unique place to live, work and play,” said City Council Member Jennie Robinson. “We are grateful to the many essential individuals who have worked hard to help guide the development of this park.”

In collaboration with Arts Huntsville and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, the park features a state-of-the-art fitness court highlighting the work of a local Huntsville artist. The fitness court supports the use of the park as a recreational hub.
Bostick Landscape Architects designed the project and Bailey-Harris Construction built it.
“This space will serve as an important aspect of recreation for our Huntsville communities,” said Parks & Recreation Director James Gossett. “It is our hope that residents will use this space to spend time outdoors and connect with community.”
