Don’t forget: Juneteenth Festival set for June 28 in Big Spring Park

The annual Juneteenth Festival presented by the City’s Office of Multicultural Affairs and Amazon is happening this Saturday, June 28, from 5-9 p.m. in Big Spring Park.

Originally scheduled for June 14, the celebration was postponed due to wet weather, but the excitement is still on. The free, family-friendly event will feature live music, food trucks, fireworks and engaging STEAM activities for all ages.

Kee & Kompany will headline the festival, following a powerful opening by the Huntsville Community Drumline. Between stage performances, a live DJ will keep the energy going.

A highlight of this year’s event is The STEAM Zone, a new interactive area with hands-on activities centered on science, technology, engineering, arts and math. Local partners like Arts Huntsville and the North Alabama NSBE Professionals will lead the programming.

“Juneteenth is not only a time of celebration, but also an opportunity to educate and inspire,” said Randy Barbour, Director of Multicultural Affairs. “Through music, culture and the addition of our new STEAM Zone, this event continues to reflect the strength and spirit of our community.”

Festivalgoers can also explore booths from local nonprofits and organizations, enjoy delicious fare from a variety of food trucks, and close out the evening with a dazzling fireworks finale.

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets, come early, and don’t miss this special evening of unity, culture, and celebration.
