Family-favorite Eggstravaganza egg hunt hops back to John Hunt Park

Published on March 3, 2026

GraphicReady, set, hunt! Huntsville Parks & Recreation is bringing back one of spring’s favorite traditions as EGGstravaganza returns for its fifth year on Saturday, April 4, from 10 a.m. to noon at John Hunt Park.

The free, family-friendly celebration will take place at the Loretta P. Spencer Sports Complex, where more than 15,000 eggs will be scattered and ready for children ages 12 and under to collect. Plenty of free parking is available near the event site.

Once baskets are filled, the fun continues with inflatables, interactive crafts and games, food trucks and plenty of photo-worthy moments.

Be on the lookout for a special guest hopping by. The Easter Bunny will be there to greet families and snap photos with all his friends.

“Since its inaugural year, EGGstravaganza has become a spring tradition that kids and their families look forward to each year. This year, we’re excited to be able to host the event so close to the Easter holiday,” said Director of Parks & Recreation James Gossett. “For kids, the event feels like the big leagues of egg hunts and provides parents and guardians with great opportunities to create lasting memories for the whole family.”

Egg hunt schedule

Families may want some extra time to arrive, stop by the welcome tent and receive their egg hunt tickets and field assignments, based on the following schedule:

  • 10 a.m.- Children with adaptive needs
  • 10:30 a.m.- Ages 5 and under
  • 11 a.m.- Ages 6-8
  • 11:30 a.m.- Ages 9-12

Children who miss their scheduled hunt time are welcome to participate in the 11:30 a.m. group.

Younger children may join older siblings during their assigned hunt time. However, older children are asked to only participate in their age groups or older to ensure a fair and fun experience for all.
