HPD announces traffic control plans for annual MLK Day Celebration parade

The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) will provide traffic control for the annual Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. MLK Day Celebration Parade on Saturday, Jan. 17.
The parade will begin at noon and is expected to end around 2 p.m. HPD officers will be stationed along the route to ensure the safety of participants and spectators, and to help maintain smooth traffic flow in surrounding areas.
Traffic Impacts:
- Williams Avenue (between Church Street and Dr. Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard) will be closed beginning at 8 a.m.
- Drivers should anticipate delays along the parade route starting around 11 a.m.
HPD urges drivers to exercise caution and remain patient while traveling near the parade route. Drivers are encouraged to plan for potential delays and consider alternate routes to avoid the affected areas.
