Huntsville 2018 Housing Expo Celebrates Homeownership
Published on October 24, 2018
Homeownership has long been part of the American dream. New buyers, or those considering a home purchase, will learn everything they need to know at the City of Huntsville’s 2018 Housing Expo on Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Stone Event Center at Campus No. 805, 2620 Clinton Avenue, 35805.
This half-day, free event, will be packed with valuable information and guidance for current and future residents in the Huntsville area. About 60 exhibitors, including government agencies, nonprofit community organizations, lenders and realtors, will provide a “one stop shop” for all resources related to housing and community development. Credit and foreclosure counseling will also be available on-site.
“A city is only as strong as its neighborhoods, and we’re pleased this Housing Expo will connect residents directly with experts on the topics they need,” said Mayor Tommy Battle.
Led by the City’s Community Development Department, the annual Housing Expo provides a showcase for local partners committed to connecting residents with affordable housing options. Residents will find answers to important questions – Is it better to rent or own? Can I receive assistance with a down payment or closing costs? Once I purchase, what will it cost to maintain my home?
“Community Development is here to help through affordable housing programs and through our efforts to promote development in underserved communities. Our goal is to ensure that all residents can afford to live and thrive in Huntsville,” said Turkessa Coleman, Community Development.
