Huntsville Animal Services invites public to ‘Spot & Adopt Your Summer Sidekick’
Published on May 21, 2024
Calling all grill masters! Need a cute face staring up at you this summer, hoping a burger or hot dog rolls off your spatula?
If so, Huntsville Animal Services has a deal for you. From now through the end of the month, the shelter is waiving fees on most adult dogs and cats as part of a Spot and Adopt Your Summer Sidekick campaign. Some exclusions apply.
To help kick off the promotion, Animal Services invites the public to visit and enjoy a free hot dog on Saturday, May 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or while supplies last. The shelter will also have cut-up hot dogs for adoptable pups.
Animal Services Interim Director Virgie Graham said now is a great time to adopt. Warmer weather presents great opportunities for long walks, nature hikes, a game of fetch or standing around the grill.
For those who prefer the company of a more relaxed pet, the shelter has plenty of adoptable cats and kittens. And while a feline friend might not be interested in what’s on the grill (unless it’s fish), they will certainly appreciate a cool spot with a window view.
“We’re committed to finding loving homes for all our animals,” Graham said. “The Spot and Adopt Your Summer Sidekick promotion is designed to reduce the shelter population and give these wonderful pets the chance to thrive in a home environment.”
Each adoptable pet is spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated before leaving the shelter. Pets are also treated with a three-month application of flea and tick preventative. Animals come with a City license and a free bag of pet food while supplies last. Click here to see photos, ages and descriptions of available animals for adoption.
Huntsville Animal Services is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Animal Services will be closed Monday, May 27, for Memorial Day.
