Huntsville bicyclists invited to Try Transit for free this week

Published on May 8, 2023

Bicyclists who encounter fatigue or inclement weather can hitch a free ride on an Orbit shuttle through Friday.

The “Try Transit” promotion is part of several planned events recognizing Bike Month. It comes on the heels of the 14th annual Mayor’s Bike Ride, which featured dozens of riders pedaling through the streets of downtown Huntsville on Saturday, May 6.

“All our Orbit shuttles have bike racks, so it’s an ideal way to continue your journey if the elements intervene,” said Quisha Bryant, Huntsville’s Director of Parking and Public Transportation. “By giving members of our bicycling community free rides this week, maybe they’ll consider us as an option in the future.”

Orbit shuttles run Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Visit HuntsvilleAL.gov/Transit to view maps and stop locations. Riders can also download the Route Shout app to see real-time updates on shuttle locations.
