A Huntsville man wanted in connection with a September homicide was taken into custody in Milwaukee after a coordinated effort between the Huntsville Police Department (HPD) and U.S. Marshals.

HPD obtained warrants for 23-year-old Tyshaun Dominique Darnell Hampton of Huntsville, on Wednesday, Sept. 17, for murder and first-degree assault in connection with the Sept. 16 shooting on Binford Drive. After the warrants were issued, HPD requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force. The task force worked with the U.S. Marshals Eastern Wisconsin Violent Offender Task Force, which located Hampton in Milwaukee.

Hampton was apprehended without incident and remains in Wisconsin awaiting extradition to Huntsville.

The shooting resulted in the death of 25-year-old Caleb Troy Martin of Decatur, and injuries to a second man. HPD’s Major Crimes Unit determined that Martin and the second victim were involved in an altercation when Hampton intervened. During the confrontation, Martin attempted to fight Hampton, who then pulled a firearm and shot him. The same round struck the second victim.

No further information is available. HPD extends its appreciation to the U.S. Marshals Service and all partner agencies for their collaboration throughout this investigation.
