Industrial projects and a new recreation center in the Cove topped the list of non-residential projects permitted last month. Residential permits and CO’s increased year-over-year.


Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

In October, 243 housing units were permitted, 114 single- and 129 multi-family. The top tract for building permits last month was 106.21 (53 North), where 77 units were permitted, 4 single- and 73 multi-family. This is a 153% increase over October 2018, when 96 housing units (all single-family) were permitted.


Residential Certificates of Occupancy (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

206 housing units were granted certificates of occupancy (CO’s), 112 single- and 94 multi-family. The top tract for CO’s in the month of October was 19.02 (Jones Valley) where 48 housing units were added, all multi-family. This is a 64.8% increase from October 2018, when 125 housing units (86 single- and 39 multi-family) were granted CO’s.

Orange:  Contract amount greater than $1 Million

Green:  Contract amount between $500,000-$999,999

Blue: Contract amount between $100,000-$499,999
