The City of Huntsville and R.O.S.S. Madison County are partnering once again to host a recovery resource event to help our community access much needed resources.

Attendees gather information from representatives of local resource groups during the first Breaking Down Barriers event in 2022.

Breaking Down Barriers will be held Saturday, Sept. 23, from 9 a.m. to noon at R.O.S.S. Madison County Recovery Community Center, 8211 Stephanie Drive, Unit A, Huntsville. The second annual event will provide free food, resources, Naloxone, medical screenings, showers, clothes, haircuts and more.

Held during National Recovery Month, the event aligns with the mission of the City’s Community Development Office, which is to strengthen all aspects of our community through affordable housing initiatives, public service and education programs.

“We’re thrilled to help host Breaking Down Barriers again this year,” said Community Development Manager Scott Erwin. “Those affected by substance use disorder as well as their loved ones are encouraged to attend this Saturday’s event to learn what resources are available on their journey to recovery.”

During the event, attendees will have access to no-cost Alabama substance use assessments. Huntsville Transit will also provide complimentary Orbit bus service to Breaking Down Barriers attendees.
