Rocket City Marathon to bring road closures and delays to Huntsville

Published on December 13, 2025

The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) will assist with traffic control and public safety efforts during the Rocket City Marathon on Sunday, Dec. 14.

HPD officers, along with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, will be stationed along the race route to help ensure the safety of runners and assist drivers navigating through the City.

Road closures will begin at 5 a.m. and remain in place as needed throughout the event. The I-565 Jefferson Street exit and Clinton Avenue at Memorial Parkway are expected to be closed for the duration of the event.

Additional roadways along the route will either be temporarily closed as runners pass or have reduced lanes of travel. Drivers traveling in or near the marathon route should plan ahead, allow extra time and use caution.
