South Huntsville Water Infrastructure Updates from Huntsville Utilities

At District 3 Council Member Jennie Robinson’s November 4 town hall, Huntsville Utilities provided an update on four water infrastructure projects happening in South Huntsville: Bailey Cove Road Phase I, Bailey Cove Road Phase II, South Parkway Water Plant and Raw Pump Station Refurbishment and the addition of a second water source on Green Mountain.

Bailey Cove Road Phase 1

  • 7,400 linear ft. of 24” water main from Ditto Marina to Hobbs Road
  • $2.4 million project under construction now
  • To be completed February 2020
  • Some sidewalks will be displaced temporarily

Bailey Cove Road Phase 2

  • 6,000 linear ft. of 16” water pipe from Hobbs to Green Mountain Road
  • $2 million project being planned now

South Parkway Water Plant and Raw Pump Station – Refurbishment

  • $5 million project slated for 2021-2023
  • Upgrades to plan equipment, electrical and controls

Green Mountain – add 2nd source of water

  • Eliminate pump to pump main
  • Add elevated storage tanks
  • Eliminate dual pressure reducing valves
  • Project not funded yet except 150,000-gallon storage tank being added to bring current pump station up to date in 2020
