Victim in Taco Bell Shooting Dies

Published on March 23, 2017

Huntsville Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit has charged Donovan Little, 19 of Huntsville, with Murder following the death of James Townsend, 15 of Huntsville.  Townsend was shot inside the Taco Bell on N. Memorial Pkwy., around 8:45 Sunday night.

Officers responded to a shooting call inside the Taco Bell, and found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds.  He was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

The victim was inside the store waiting in line when Little walked up to him.  Little pulled a gun and shot the victim before leaving the store.  Shortly after 9:00 p.m., Little turned himself in to officers at the Huntsville Police Departments Administrative Building on Wheeler Avenue.

It appears the shooting stemmed from an August 2015 shooting inside a home in the 2500 block of Holmes Avenue.  Little was the victim, and the victim from the Taco Bell was charged with Assault 1st degree for that shooting.

Townsend passed away today in the hospital and investigators upgraded the charge from Attempted Murder to Murder.  Little is still being held in the Madison County Jail.
