You’re Invited: Meet the brave first responders at Huntsville Fire & Rescue
Published on January 6, 2022
As Huntsville Fire & Rescue recruits the best and brightest to join its ranks, the City is offering three opportunities this month for candidates to meet top leaders and learn how the department operates.
The meet-and-greet events will be held Jan. 10, 20 and 29 at different times to accommodate schedules and offer more people a glimpse into the life of a firefighter.
“If you’re thinking about becoming a firefighter, there’s no better way to confirm your decision than coming out and meeting the men and women who do this work each day,” said Cory Green, a recruiter and driver/engineer with Fire & Rescue. “We are eager to talk about why we love working here and help answer any questions you may have.”
The events will be held:
- Monday, Jan. 10, 5-7 p.m., Fire Station #1, 2110 Clinton Ave.
- Thursday, Jan. 20, 2 p.m., Public Safety Training Complex, 5365 Triana Blvd.
- Saturday, Jan. 29, 3-5 p.m., Public Safety Training Complex, 5365 Triana Blvd.
The Jan. 10 event will include a tour of the fire station, behind-the-scenes look at station life and Q&A session with Recruiter Green and others. The Jan. 20 event will feature a real ropes training course with Huntsville firefighters, while the Jan. 29 event will offer a tour of the City’s new Public Safety Training Complex.
Prospective candidates can visit Fire & Rescue’s website, JoinHFR.com, to learn more about the hiring process and apply. They can also follow Fire & Rescue on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to keep up with the latest news.
The recruitment campaign began Tuesday, Jan. 4, and will run for six weeks. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, maintain a valid driver’s license, possess a high school diploma or GED, and have no convicted felonies.
