Citizens excited about the next phase in Huntsville’s sports industry expansion gathered at Fractal Brewing Project this week for a first-look at the designs of the new John Hunt Park skatepark set to open in late 2022.

Team Pain, one of the world’s most popular skatepark design firms, presented the renderings to an in-person and virtual audience on Wednesday, Nov. 3.

The new 52,000-square-foot park will include custom-made bowls, snake runs, a three-quarter pipe, street plaza and other unique features for skaters of all ages and skill levels.

“Skating enthusiasts from across the City spoke with us at two different public input meetings this year and this is it – this is the park you’ve asked for,” said Team Pain President and Owner Tim Payne. “It’s just an overall vibe that will capture the imagination of those who visit the park for years to come.”

Team Pain will oversee the skatepark project to be constructed on three acres of land between Kids Space and the Championship Soccer Fields at John Hunt Park.

The City of Huntsville, Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville and Skatepark Project are working together to make this future skatepark a reality.
